The Consilient
The Consilient advises leaders, family offices, and institutions facing internal conflict, competing interests, and tensions that risk escalating - where the human, financial, and reputational consequences can be significant.
We help clients address problems early, navigate conflict, and find a way forward when agreement is difficult. Our work draws on more than two decades of experience in mediation, negotiation, and conflict prevention.
“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”
— George Bernard Shaw
Our Services
We help clients prevent and manage conflict, resolve disputes, and build alignment.
Our work is discreet, grounded, and practical.
-
Ongoing counsel to leaders, family offices, and institutions dealing with internal tensions, competing interests, and periods of change. We provide a discreet, independent perspective to help clients understand what is happening, challenge assumptions, test options, and decide how best to act.
We help address problems before they escalate, rebuild trust where relationships have become strained, and create alignment when leaders, teams, families, or institutions are pulling in different directions. We also help build a culture where disagreement can be handled constructively.
We design practical workshops for leadership teams on conflict management, difficult conversations, negotiation, and early intervention. Workshops are tailored to the situations and challenges participants actually face.
-
Independent mediation and facilitation when disagreement, strained relationships, or competing interests are making it difficult to move forward. We work with the parties to clarify what is at stake, rebuild dialogue, find areas of common ground, and develop practical ways forward.
Engagements may involve leadership teams, boards, family enterprises, institutions, or other groups where relationships matter and the consequences of unresolved conflict are significant.
We also design and facilitate difficult conversations, retreats, and meetings where independent facilitation can keep the discussion productive and focused on an outcome.
-
Speaking engagements draw on more than two decades of experience in conflict, negotiation, and leadership, as well as current advisory work with leaders and institutions. Talks combine firsthand experience from some of the world’s most difficult conflicts with practical lessons on navigating disagreement, building trust, engaging across divides, and leading when the stakes are high.
Recent engagements include international conferences, universities, executive forums, and an extended interview with Mariana van Zeller for The Hidden Third. Topics and format are tailored to the audience, from keynote addresses and moderated conversations to smaller leadership retreats and private events.

The Approach
Independent Perspective
We bring trusted, experienced judgment to conflict and difficult situations - helping clients see what they may be missing, challenge assumptions, and think through the best way forward.
Practical Intervention
Whether tensions are emerging or conflict has become entrenched, we help clients understand what is driving the situation, identify where there is room to move, and find a way forward.
Discretion and Trust
We operate quietly, behind the scenes. Our work often unfolds in sensitive contexts where trust, experience, and discretion matter more than visibility.
